The purpose of massage therapy is to target the source of the body's pain by eliminating tense muscles, increasing flexibility, and providing relaxation to the affected muscles as well as the body as a whole. It is a form of manual therapy that includes holding, moving, and applying pressure to the muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. Massage techniques are commonly applied with hands, fingers, elbows, forearms, or a device.
